The Role
We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT Delivery team and support the ongoing development, maintenance and reliability of our group-wide infrastructure.
You will work across a large estate of schools and office locations, ensuring our on‑premises and cloud platforms - including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure, and network services are robust, secure and fit for purpose. This role combines project work, problem solving, continuous improvement and hands-on technical support.
What You'll Be Doing
Supporting, maintaining and improving servers, networks and cloud services across the Group
Troubleshooting and resolving escalated infrastructure issues
Ensuring high availability of business‑critical platforms and network services
Managing and monitoring Microsoft‑based server infrastructure and Hyper‑V environments
Managing and monitoring the network infrastructure including Meraki, Ubiquiti, WAN/LAN and VLAN configurations
Assisting with Microsoft 365 improvements, including tenant consolidation and cross‑tenant configuration
Coordinating suppliers, resellers and service providers
Documenting infrastructure designs, processes and troubleshooting procedures
Supporting cyber security improvements in partnership with the Information Security team
Mentoring and knowledge‑sharing with other IT colleagues
Participating in change management and maintaining proper governance
Assisting on special projects, integrations following acquisitions and technology upgrades across the Group
Essential Experience & Skills
3–5 years' experience in a 3rd line or Infrastructure Engineer role within a support desk or MSP environment
Experience supporting Windows Server 2016–2025 and Windows 10/11
Experience managing Active Directory and Microsoft 365 services including Exchange, SharePoint and Purview
Experience supporting EntraID/InTune
Experience supporting firewalls and enterprise network environments
Strong understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, VLANs, routing, switching and IP addressing
Understanding of virtualisation technologies
Strong ITIL knowledge and understanding of IT infrastructure best practice
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and prioritisation skills
Excellent communication, customer service and organisational skills
Ability to work independently, follow processes, take ownership and meet deadlines
Professional IT qualifications (Microsoft, Azure, MCSA, CCNA etc.), an IT degree, or working towards one
Willingness to travel to UK sites
Ability to work well under pressure and support challenging stakeholders
