The Education Welfare Service is looking to recruit an Access to Education Officer to meet the demands of this busy team. We are looking for a candidate who has the ability and personality to develop positive and supportive relationships with schools, pupils and their families and be confident in representing the service.
The service undertakes the statutory function of the local authority in relation to ensuring that children of compulsory school age have access to a suitable and efficient education either at school or otherwise. This post will sit within the Education Welfare Service and will support the work of the service, particularly helping to track the movements of pupils who are classified as 'children missing education' and offering advice and guidance to parents who have chosen to ‘electively home educate’ their children.
The post holder must be committed to providing a quality service and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and an ability to be flexible, work to timescales and accurately manage and record data.
Previous employment experience with families and children in a multi-agency setting and the ability to manage sensitive issues is essential, as is a general understanding of education welfare service roles and responsibilities as set out within the job outline.
