The role

You will work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through the OMNIA Training Support Branch and functionally through the Raytheon UK Engineering Management team, specifically the Systems Security Engineering Group. You’ll work with the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training. The Omnia Security Architect role requires a versatile individual who can contribute across the project lifecycle in collective training and deployed IT environments, operating in a senior technical role with customer and delivery teams, alone and unsupervised if necessary. This position supports the Collective Training Transformation Programme (CTTP), ensuring training meets the British Army’s needs. The role concentrates on Information Assurance and Cyber Security and may also support Physical and Personnel security elements.
The successful candidate should communicate effectively with technical experts and broader stakeholders, applying a holistic approach to create solutions that help the organisation achieve its goals. You must be a team player who can lead from the front and work with a multi-skilled engineering team and the customer community.
Key Responsibilities
* Developing, contributing to and managing the security vision, security architecture specifications, threat modelling, security requirements, standards, reference architectures, security strategies and roadmaps
* Applying security design principles to develop security architectures
* Leading security interactions with senior internal and external stakeholders
* Supporting security assurance of systems
* Developing and/or guiding the strategic direction of security projects to enable execution of the information security strategy
* Capturing, expanding, and analysing security requirements
* Developing innovative security solutions to enable execution of the long-term security architecture
* Driving security technology evaluations and proof-of-concepts
* Building cross-organisational relationships and influencing the architecture team and stakeholders
* Supporting the security technologies lifecycle
* Working with other architects to ensure security is embedded in technology domain architectures
* Assisting other architects in peer reviews
* Evaluating and assessing security risk as part of application and system lifecycle management
* Staying current with security technologies and making value-driven recommendations
* Advising leadership on cybersecurity issues, systems, processes, products and services
* Maintaining oversight of system design and implementation to ensure appropriate security controls
* Serving as a cybersecurity expert to contribute to the overall system architecture

Essential Skills and Experience

* Ability to communicate security risk implications to senior stakeholders
* Experience managing stakeholders’ expectations in high-risk or time-constrained environments
* Lead security design and review with other Omnia architects
* Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies (TOGAF, MODAF or equivalent)
* Understanding of formulating, recording and managing security risk and risk methodologies
* Support developing plans, estimates, task execution, project tracking, reporting, and risk mitigation
* Experience in developing Risk Management Framework documents and controls
* Understanding of Secure by Design concepts
* Experience with waterfall and agile methodologies
* Awareness of obsolescence impacts on Information Assurance
* Ability to identify new technology, security advances and risks to inform future solutions
* Broad understanding of Cloud hosting/architecture for major cloud providers
* Experience or knowledge of DevSecOps tooling and processes
* Working knowledge of MoD or Government IT Security environments and requirements at SECRET and above
* Proven experience leading a small team
* Willingness to travel
* Hold a security clearance above BPSS, or ability to gain it
Desirable Skills and Experience
* BSc Information Security or significant commercial experience in programme security
* Professional information security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CGRC)
* Knowledge of Government Standard 007: Security, ISO 27001 and NIST
* Strong communication skills (oral, presentation and written)
* Experience or knowledge of Supply Chain security management
* Security awareness and education programme experience
* Passion for Information Security and continuous learning
* Problem management or ITIL experience
* Knowledge of GEOINT, SIGINT, ACINT, MASINT, OSINT, HUMINT and related data analysis
* Note: Formal offers conditional upon award expected December 2025
