Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is delivering a major Electronic Patient Record (EPR) transformation to improve medicines safety, quality and efficiency across our services. We are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Lead Pharmacist – Digital Medicines and EPMA to provide senior leadership for electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) across the Trust in our EPR. This is a pivotal role within the EPR programme, responsible for the strategic development, optimisation and governance to ensure safe, effective and high‑quality medicines use. Working closely in our EPR Programme with the Assistant CCIO (Pharmacy and Medicines), digital services, clinical leaders and system suppliers, you will lead EPMA system development, upgrades and configuration, oversee clinical safety and risk management, and ensure robust training, adoption and ongoing improvement. You will play a key role in clinical governance, data quality, prescribing safety & benefits realisation, while also providing advanced clinical pharmacy leadership within a designated speciality. Main responsibilities
* Provide Trust‑wide leadership and coordination for all aspects of EPMA within the EPR programme
* Act as the professional and clinical lead for EPMA, ensuring systems support safe prescribing, administration and medicines optimisation
* Lead the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of EPMA systems
* System design, configuration and optimisation – Project manage EPMA system upgrades, configuration and testing, ensuring clinical safety and readiness for go‑live
* System parameters, medicines, order sets and access – Manage EPMA system parameters, prescribable medicines, order sets and user access rights in line with governance decisions
* Stakeholder liaison – Liaise with software suppliers, digital services and pharmacy teams to resolve issues and support ongoing system development
* Clinical governance and patient safety – Lead EPMA‑related risk management, quality assurance and clinical safety processes
* Policies and contingency plans – Develop and implement EPMA policies, procedures and contingency plans, including system downtime and recovery
* Training and adoption – Coordinate EPMA training strategy across clinical services and ensure user acceptance testing and post‑implementation support
* Data, audit and reporting – Ensure high standards of data quality, integrity and audit within EPMA; use data to support service improvement, financial monitoring and benefits realisation
* Clinical governance contribution – Monitor prescribing practice, analyse high‑risk medicines use and respond to national guidance
* Clinical pharmacy leadership – Provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service within a designated speciality and participate in MDTs, medicines optimisation and clinical audit
* Education and professional development – Support education, training and professional development of pharmacy staff

The Lead Pharmacist – Digital Medicines and EPMA provides senior clinical and digital leadership for electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) across Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
