Responsibilities
* Setting and operating machine/machines and loading various tooling along with materials associated with the various components manufactured on up to at least two machines.
* Machining components to specification and customer requirements using detailed drawings and layouts requiring concentration. Ensure correct set up of tooling and components to avoid poor quality, reprocessing and scrap.
* Ensure the tooling loaded is fit for purpose and advise on or change them when necessary.
* Maintain metal working fluid levels and dispose of them as per company guidelines.
* Set up correct tools and components according to approved layouts, load the correct programme, and exercise decision making to produce parts to customer specification and standard. Failure to do so may result in poor quality, reprocessing and scrap.
* Report all component / machine non-conformances using the appropriate forms to the Team Leader or Quality Inspector.
* Competent in completing new product introduction on machines – proving out (with engineering).
* Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated.
* Verify parts are correct to the job card and processed following customer specifications.
* Identify failures with parts, complete NCR forms and escalate to the Line Manager for rectification work.
* Ensure processes and procedures are followed to perform tasks efficiently and to the required quality standard.
* Comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems.
* Cross-check that all prior operations are completed before commencing this operation.
Qualifications and Experience
* NVQ level 3 Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering - CNC Machining or equivalent
* GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English
* Experience: Must have 1 year\'s experience on 3 and 5 axis machines
* Able to identify components and select the correct tooling/jigging media and carry out a given operation in the routing in compliance with the engineering drawings and to the correct tolerances
* Ability to read and understand customer specifications, drawings and visual aids
Key Competencies and Other Skills
* Good verbal and written communication
* Ability to lift parts onto machine fixture up to 10kg
* SAP or MRP experience
* Crane licence
* Pedestrian forklift licence
* Manual machine experience
* Integrity, respect for others, creativity in finding better ways to do things, ethical conduct
* Collaborative, attention to detail, problem analysis
* Ability to work to tight time scales and be flexible
* Willingness to learn
