Position Summary
We are recruiting for a Health and Safety Engineer to assist with the implementation and management of policies and procedures for health and safety based out of our site in Whitstable; Kent.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Help maintain a system for health, safety, environmental to meet legislation, accreditation and directive requirements within the Whitstable plant. There may be a requirement to attend our other facility in Snodland (VP) on some days during the year
* Promote good health, safety, and environmental policies and culture throughout the Whitstable plant
* Assist in the development and implementation of the HSE strategy and plan to support the annual business plan and long‑term strategy
* Review HSE policies, procedures and guidance in line with best practices and current and future HSE legislative requirements, and to make recommendations on their application and implementation
* Ensure HSE management systems are maintained in accordance with relevant standards and guidelines, policies and procedures.
* Assist with the adherence to the environmental and sustainable practises and improvements in the business.
* Co‑ordinator of the HSE Steering Committee, providing statistical summaries to senior management identifying any significant trends and occurrences and ensuring improvement actions are shared throughout the organisation
* Be an organisational representative in its dealings with external outside bodies
* To hold or assist with monthly HSE committee meetings and to work alongside other HSE engineers within the organisation.
* Help maintain systems for measuring and monitoring HSE performance and assist with certification and accreditations such as 9001 and 140001.
* With the quality engineer actively work with and follow up NCR and drive to reduce the number and cost associated with them.
* Assist with industry and insurance audits
* Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported and investigated in accordance with HSE guidelines and company's policies and procedures.

* Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within manufacturing or similar industry
Qualifications
Essential
* NEBOSH qualified (Or equivalent qualification or experience)
