SJC Partners is currently managing the recruitment process for the hire of an Acquisition Search Director into an innovative mergers and acquisitions deal sourcing business.
Our client specializes in sourcing off-market businesses for acquisition by private equity investors, PE-backed companies, listed businesses, and some private companies.
Businesses wishing to acquire or invest in other businesses engage our client to undertake a bespoke acquisition search process, uncovering target businesses within their specific criteria and facilitating the approach to these businesses. Companies rely on our client to have thorough commercial conversations with business owners, quickly understanding different business models and building trust with target businesses.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end client management across the following process:
* Agree the scope of the acquisition search with clients, at the board level.
* Coordinate with the research team to identify businesses within the client’s search criteria. The research will be conducted by an in-house team.
* Approach the majority shareholders of the target businesses and hold detailed, highly commercial conversations via video call to discuss their business model, track record, growth trajectory, financials, and owners’ aspirations regarding selling their business.
* Discuss each interested business with the client and facilitate meetings with selected targets.
* Manage the acquisition process thereafter, requiring strong commercial understanding and relationship management skills.
Applicants should be able to quickly understand various business models. Experience operating at the board level is important, as you will manage relationships with owners, CEOs, and senior executives of large corporates, private equity firms, and private equity-backed companies.
Applicants from diverse commercial backgrounds will be considered. The current team includes individuals who have run their own businesses or operated at Director level.
This role offers a competitive salary with an attractive, transparent bonus structure, paid multiple times a year, based on deal activity. The bonus is uncapped, with high performers earning bonuses exceeding 100% of their salary in a good year.
