Job Summary
We are a compassionate and professional independent, family-run funeral directors seeking a reliable and highly organised Administration Assistant to support our team. This role requires a high level of confidentiality, discretion, compassion and professionalism, as you will be handling sensitive personal information and communicating with bereaved families, clergy, crematoria, cemeteries and other professionals.
Please note: This is a CASUAL position, but we are a growing company eager to invest in team members who demonstrate a passion for providing our clients with the highest standard of service. For the right candidate, there is potential for the role to progress to a part‑time or full‑time position in the future.
Duties
* Answering telephone calls and responding to emails in a professional, empathetic, and confidential manner
* Greeting clients and making them feel welcome
* Preparing, proofreading, and handling confidential documents
* Drafting, formatting, and proofreading letters on behalf of the business
* Data entry and maintaining accurate, secure records
* Liaising discreetly and professionally with families, clergy, crematoria, cemeteries, and other professionals
* Maintaining high standards of service and impeccable attention to detail and striving to go the extra mile for our clients
* Filing (digital and paper) in line with confidentiality and data protection requirements
* Supporting funeral directors with administrative tasks as required
Requirements
* Proven experience in a similar role, however experience within the funeral industry is not essential; full training will be provided.
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Compassionate demeanour with strong interpersonal skills capable of providing support during sensitive situations.
* A Full Clean Driving Licence is essential
* You will be required to take part in our on-call rota, which involves bringing a loved one into our care outside regular hours, including evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
