Department Overview
The Art Department is a busy, successful department that follows the AQA GCSE and A Level Art & Design Fine Art syllabus. It offers full‑time teaching across all senior school years, co‑curricular opportunities such as lunch clubs and after‑school sessions, and support for students progressing to Foundation courses and university study in Architecture, Fine Art and Fashion.
Responsibilities
The Head of Department is responsible for the overall performance of the department, reporting to the Assistant Head (Data and Systems) on all aspects of the department, and overseeing curriculum delivery, staff performance, and student progress.
Qualifications
* Secure knowledge and understanding of own subject/curriculum area, including current developments in teaching and learning.
* QTS/PGCE qualification.
* Prior teaching experience at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
* Excellent classroom practitioner with a genuine passion for Art and evidence of consistently high standards of achievement.
* Enthusiasm, confidence and a diligent "can‑do" mindset, with the gravitas to be an outstanding ambassador for the School.
* Development and maintenance of good relationships with students and colleagues.
* Sound understanding and awareness of safeguarding procedures.
* Creative and innovative teaching techniques.
* IT literacy to support teaching and learning.
* Inspiration for staff and students through action.
