Beer & Coffee Co is an independent hospitality group based in Warwickshire, known for its creative approach to food, drink, and social venues. Since 2012, we’ve built a collection of unique, community-driven spaces including our well-loved “Pug Pubs” – The Fat Pug, The Royal Pug, The Black Pug, The Lost Pug and The Micro Pug – alongside concepts like Taverna Meraki and mobile ventures such as The Army Bar.

We are now looking for a Deputy General Manager to join The Black Pug on a 12-month maternity cover contract, with potential for a permanent opportunity.
The Role.
This is a full-time, on-site position where you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the business. As part of a small independent company, you’ll be heavily involved in decision‑making, team development, and driving the overall success of the pub.
You’ll lead from the front, bringing strong charisma, high energy, and a genuine passion for hospitality to maintain standards, support your team, and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Key responsibilities
* Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service
* Lead, motivate, and develop the team, maintaining a positive workplace culture
* Deliver outstanding customer service and uphold brand standards
* Manage cellar operations, stock control, and ordering
* Control labour and rota planning in line with business needs
* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, food hygiene, and EHO standards
* Train staff across service, compliance, and operational procedures
* Support budgeting, stock management, and overall P&L performance
* Plan and deliver events, promotions, and initiatives to drive sales and engagement
* Maintain organisation of files, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation
What we’re looking for
* Strong experience in hospitality leadership and team management
* Solid understanding of pub operations, including cellar management and stock control
* Excellent customer service skills and a hands‑on leadership style
* High energy, strong personality, and the ability to lead from the front
* Confident communicator across all levels
* Organised, proactive, and able to perform under pressure
* Good understanding of labour control and business performance
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance regulations
* Flexible availability including evenings and weekends
Desirable:
* Level 2 Food Hygiene
* Personal Licence
* Cellar management experience
* UK driving licence
