Mechanical Project Engineer - 12‑Month Fixed Term

Yolk Recruitment are supporting the recruitment of a hands-on Mechanical Project Engineer to lead a 12-month project focused on improving advanced production processes. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious engineer to take ownership of a full project lifecycle, from design and instrumentation through trials and validation, enhancing process stability, yield, and product quality. Key responsibilities:
Lead the full project lifecycle, managing scope, milestones, risks, and deliverables.
Design, implement, and validate engineering solutions to improve process performance.
Specify, install, and commission instrumentation and control systems (flow, pressure, temperature sensors, high-speed data capture, laser/optical diagnostics).
Plan and execute process trials, analyse data, and validate performance improvements.
Coordinate equipment installation, production trials, and collaborate with internal teams and external contractors.
Produce technical reports, including KPIs, CAPEX/OPEX impact, and safety documentation.
Provide day-to-day support to Technical and Engineering teams.
Ensure adherence to HSE, quality, and governance standards.
Required Skills & Experience
Project Engineering or Project Management experience in production or R&D environments.
Understanding of fluid dynamics, thermal processes, and mechanical equipment design.
Hands-on experience with instrumentation and control selection, installation, and commissioning.
Ability to conduct safe, structured process trials and produce clear technical documentation.
Excellent communication skills and experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
