About the Role
The Library Assistant role is key to student and staff experience of Library services at Goldsmiths, delivering an exemplary service to Library customers.
This role is the first point of contact for first-tier enquiries and support, ensuring our physical and online spaces operate smoothly. This role has primary responsibility for staffing Library service points on a rota basis to maintain staffed opening hours.
This role is based in the Experience and Special Collections Team, and works across the Library service with support and supervision of Library Supervisors, Senior Library Assistants and specialist staff to carry out a range of processes including collection and stock management, circulation, space management, interlending, data entry, administration, enquiries, and Library membership.
This role is campus based and the current hours are:
Wednesdays & Fridays, 9am-5pm (14 hours)
1 x 6 hour shift to be worked on either Monday, Tuesday or Thursday (to be agreed once appointed)
About the Candidate
You will be a collaborative and adaptable professional with experience in libraries, information services, or customer service environments. You will bring the ability to take responsibility for day-to-day service supervision, ensuring smooth and effective operations.
Your exemplary communication skills will enable you to work successfully across teams, support colleagues, resolve complex enquiries, and build strong working relationships to help deliver high-quality services. Confident in administration, you will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and bring strong data handling and analysis capabilities.
