About the Role
As a Lecturer (English and Maths), you will play a vital role in equipping apprentices and learners with the core skills required by industry, society, and national awarding bodies. This is an exciting opportunity to influence future talent, support vocational colleagues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our curriculum.
What you’ll be doing
As a Lecturer at CITB, you will deliver high-quality, interactive teaching across English, Maths and Digital Literacy, ensuring every learner receives personalised support to fulfil their potential. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Planning and delivering engaging theory and practical lessons aligned with CITB’s Teaching, Learning and Assessment Strategy
* Creating high-quality, inclusive learning and assessment resources
* Using initial and diagnostic assessments to provide tailored learning plans and support
* Giving regular, constructive feedback to help learners progress and achieve
* Tracking, monitoring and recording progress through our Learner Management System (Aptem)
* Supporting the development of learners’ personal, academic and digital skills for success in the workplace
* Liaising with Awarding Bodies and End Point Assessment Organisations where appropriate
* Working closely with Apprenticeship Development Coaches and contributing to high-quality learner reviews
* Participating in learner risk processes and implementing timely support strategies
* Delivering advice and guidance on career progression opportunities
* Ensuring safeguarding, welfare and health & safety are upheld at all times
* Building strong relationships with employers, industry professionals and wider stakeholders
* Leading curriculum teams to embed English, Maths and ICT requirements from Education Scotland and Skills Development Scotland
* Supporting and coaching new vocational instructors and assessors, particularly around English and Maths
* Conducting Learning Walks and contributing to quality assurance through evaluations and quality reviews
* Delivering CPD sessions to enhance team capability
* Keeping up to date with current methodologies through relevant training and events
* Demonstrating positive, professional attitudes and behaviours at all times
What we’re looking for
* Educated to Higher level English and/or Maths or equivalent
* Possess a full teaching qualification (TQFE, PGDE or similar)
* Appropriate experience of teaching classes across a wide age range and abilities.
* Has current knowledge of the national curriculum developments and can demonstrate this successfully through classroom practice.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Excellent verbal and written skills.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Knowledge, skills, and experience in Microsoft Office 365.
* Higher level English and/or Maths related qualification
* Level 5 or equivalent ICT or related qualification
* Experience of delivering Digital Skills, English and/or maths in an apprenticeship setting
