Job Summary
Opportunity to join dynamic and evolving therapy teams at Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals, part of UHB. Develop your clinical and interdisciplinary team working skills and support your career development. This Band 6 rotation supports learning in a variety of clinical areas including Macmillan, HCOP, Medicals, ED, Short Stay Therapy, Solihull IMC, T&O and Respiratory, alongside a new Home first OT rotation facilitating functional assessments and discharge planning.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills
Provide therapeutic assessment, management and treatment of patients in acute hospital and community settings. Focus on facilitating discharges home or other care pathways and supporting patients in outpatient community. Develop communication, prioritisation and organisational skills, and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Undertake all clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, maintain records, assist with supervision, education and coordination of Therapy Support Workers and junior therapists. Will participate in seven days working.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
* Registered with HCPC
* Evidence of CPD including recent postgraduate training
* Training relevant to clinical speciality
* Evidence of leadership training
* Good standard of general education including GCSE
* English and maths grade C or above
* A Levels or equivalent qualification
Desirable:
* Fieldwork Educator's certificate or attendance at Clinical Educators Course
Experience
Essential:
* Approximately 12 months of clinical experience managing a caseload of patients with complex needs, including discharge planning.
* Team/service development experience.
* Specialist knowledge across a range of OT treatments, routine and non-routine, requiring expertise within the field of occupational therapy.
* Ability to cope with complex options, find solutions, analyse, compare and decide on appropriate course of action.
* Understanding of current legislation and its application to OT.
Desirable:
* Experience supporting students and more junior therapy staff.
* Understanding of discharge routes in the community.
Additional Criteria
Essential:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information.
* Computer literate in email, Word and PowerPoint.
* Ability to prioritise and organise own workload.
* Demonstrate enthusiasm for speciality and a professional attitude.
* Work as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
* Cope with a range of complex options, find solutions, analyse, compare and decide on an appropriate course of action.
* Cope with moving/manoeuvring patients/equipment daily.
* Concentrate on patient assessments and treatments frequently.
* Cope with occasional exposure to distressing or emotional situations.
* Demonstrate an interest in developing expertise within the relevant team.
* Contribute to weekend service.
* Work varied shift patterns commensurate to service area.
Desirable:
* Ability to drive with a maximum of 3 points on a driving licence.

Salary & Contract
Band 6 – £39,959.00 to £48,117.00 yearly. Permanent, full‑time contract with flexible working. Working pattern: full‑time, flexible. Pay scheme: Agenda for Change.
