Our client, responsible for maintaining one of London’s most prominent and historic waterfront estates, is currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the upkeep of essential mechanical systems across the site in East London. Responsibilities: * Undertake both scheduled and reactive maintenance tasks across a variety of estate infrastructure, such as bridges, lock gates, pumping stations, sewage systems, and estate buildings. * Carry out system inspections and identify faults, with particular attention to hydraulics and other critical mechanical systems. * Promptly escalate any faults, equipment failures, or irregularities to your supervisor or manager. * Provide hands-on mechanical support to diagnose issues, carry out repairs, and help restore systems to full operation as quickly as possible. * Take responsibility for identifying and ordering replacement parts to support timely repairs. * Keep clear and accurate records of maintenance work to support audit requirements and ensure legal compliance. * Contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to Health & Safety policies and participating in risk assessments and method statements. * Participate in a call-out rota for emergency repairs and out-of-hours maintenance coverage. * Support the wider maintenance team as needed, including tasks outside the immediate mechanical scope, where appropriate. Required Experience & Skills: * Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within infrastructure, marine, or facilities environments. * Solid working knowledge of hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, and associated controls. * Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical faults independently. * Experience maintaining large movable structures (e.g., bridges, gates, or heavy plant) is highly desirable. * Familiarity with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) and basic reporting tools. * Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices. * Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team. * Full UK driving license is desirable.
