Job Description

Role Overview

The Head of IPE is responsible for the global leadership and strategic direction of the IPE function. This includes overseeing Project Directors across all regions to ensure consistent, high-quality, and profitable project execution, as well as managing Contract Management and Extended Product Execution teams.


Key Responsibilities


Global Leadership & Strategy

* Provide strategic direction and leadership to Project Directors, Contract Management, and Extended Product Execution teams worldwide, aligning with business goals and customer expectations.
* Establish and implement global best practices in project execution, cost management, and risk mitigation.
* Drive standardization across regions to improve efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
* Define and monitor KPIs for project performance, ensuring continuous improvement.
* Ensure coordination with SBL until I&C achieves nameplate, supporting seamless transition and customer success.
* Lead talent development and mentoring for high-performing project management teams.


Financial & Performance Management

* Ensure comprehensive and consistent financial reporting across all areas.


Operational Excellence & Stakeholder Management

* Develop and implement project governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with contracts and policies.
* Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within IPE.
* Represent IPE in senior leadership discussions, providing insights on project trends and challenges.


Scope Management

* Prepare detailed project plans aligned with IODs, including resources, objectives, and timelines.
* Identify critical paths and milestones in project schedules.
* Act as Project Manager for integration scope when applicable.


Risk, Contract, Change, and Claim Management

* Support IOD Managers in identifying opportunities and enforcing change management processes.
* Manage project performance, early threat identification, and risk mitigation plans.
* Manage contracts to minimize liabilities.
* Coordinate with IODs to ensure contractual compliance.
* Maintain records of claims and changes, addressing them during project execution.


Financial & Performance Monitoring

* Monitor costs, revenue, margins, and cash flow.
* Consolidate project reporting on costs, schedules, and forecasts.
* Maintain or improve profitability from the as-sold status.


Operational & Stakeholder Engagement

* Collaborate with Capital Sales, SBL, and IODs for seamless delivery and handover.
* Ensure transparent communication with stakeholders.


Communication & Reporting

* Serve as the primary contact for Scope 2+ projects.
* Ensure timely and clear communication and reporting.
* Consolidate information for client communication and internal risk reports.
* Document lessons learned and implement improvements.


Leadership & Team Management

* Oversee regional project management teams.
* Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
* Provide strategic guidance to meet business objectives.


Qualifications & Skills

* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, or related field.
* 15+ years in the mining industry, with at least 10 years managing capital investment projects as PM or PD.
* Expertise in managing complex, multi-product projects and commercial drivers.
* Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and customer relationship skills.
* Advanced project management skills, including budgeting and forecasting.
* Experience in contract negotiation and management.
* Leadership experience in international, intercultural environments.
* Proficiency in Oracle, Microsoft Office, and other relevant systems.
