NTU Student Support Services are pleased to advertise an exciting opportunity for the role of Student Support Adviser. Working within our Student Health and Wellbeing Service, Student Support Advisers deliver in person and remote support to students primarily in one academic school setting. Student Support Advisers provide assessment, risk management and ongoing support to students experiencing a range of personal and practical difficulties and experiences that may impact on their academic progression or achievement. The ideal candidate(s) will have substantial experience in a client‑facing role, involving assessing the needs of service users, signposting and referring to other agencies as necessary. You will also need to be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance to promote a positive student experience in a university setting and an understanding of the support needs and lived experiences of students from diverse backgrounds.
Educated to degree level, the successful candidate will have a good understanding of current practice and the provision of support services for students in higher education and the barriers that students may face to a successful university experience. You will also have experience of providing support to a caseload of vulnerable individuals and of working in partnership with other professionals to find solutions to often complex issues. In addition, you will have strong communication, organisation and prioritisation skills and the ability to work as a team to continually develop and evaluate this innovative service. A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student safety is essential for this role.
