Job Description Navantia UK is embarking on an exciting new project at our yard in Methil, Scotland, and we are seeking a highly motivated Risk Officer to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing risks across a complex, high-profile programme that will shape the future of Heavy engineering production. About the Role As Risk Officer, you will be responsible for systematically identifying, evaluating, and prioritising risks that could affect design, production, safety, finances, and delivery schedules. You will ensure senior management maintains full visibility of programme-related risks while also identifying opportunities that add value to the project. This role will see you working closely with project teams, Control Account Managers (CAMs), procurement, and senior leadership to establish robust risk management processes and deliver clear, actionable insights. Key Responsibilities Conduct risk reviews across all aspects of the project, including health, safety, environmental, quality, and financial elements. Review and update existing risk assessments; produce new assessments where required. Develop and maintain the Risk and Opportunity Registers, capturing all relevant data such as causes, impacts, mitigation actions, responsibilities, and financial exposure. •Work with stakeholders to recommend and implement actions that eliminate, minimise, or mitigate risks. Contribute to the development and maintenance of risk processes within the organisation’s Quality System. Conduct spot audits to ensure risks are identified and addressed. Collaborate with Procurement to secure supply of long lead-time, high-cost, strategic materials. Provide cost/benefit analyses for identified opportunities and present recommendations to Senior Project Managers. Share updates and feedback with CAMs ahead of monthly risk panels; prepare presentations for wider organisational visibility. Produce and maintain a robust Business Continuity Plan. Submit regular risk reports to senior management outlining new, open, and closed risks, as well as financial exposure. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Thorough understanding of risk management policies and best practice. Awareness of running QSRA (Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis and Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis) Experience working on complex engineering projects. Strong analytical, mathematical, and critical thinking skills. Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail. Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Clear and confident verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for preparing registers, policies, and reports.
