I am currently seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer with an ambition to oversee the technical delivery of a portfolio of projects for a successful design consultancy in either the Gloucester or Cardiff office. The candidate will ensure the quality and accuracy of the engineering to the highest standard and will be responsible for the quality management of designs and the commercial performance of projects.
Our client focuses on commercial housing of all kinds, social housing, care homes, renewable energy projects – notably wind farms, industrial developments, remediation, and commercial & industrial projects – with ambitions to grow its presence in the rail sector. The project workload is throughout South Wales and the West of England, so the role requires an empathetic and supportive approach to staff working with the design team and confidence in engaging with valued clients.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the technical delivery of a portfolio of projects for the consultancy.
* Ensure quality and accuracy of engineering to the highest standard.
* Manage quality of designs and the commercial performance of projects.
* Support and mentor staff working with the design team.
* Engage confidently and professionally with clients.
* Undertake technical design work and produce reports.
* Communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
* Design drainage, highways, and civil infrastructure to professional standards.
* Navigate adoption procedures for highway authorities and water utilities.
Qualifications
* At least eight years of post‑graduate experience.
* Experience taking design responsibility for projects.
* Likely Chartered Engineer (applications from candidates with a comparable level of experience and expertise are welcomed).
* Desirable: working knowledge of Microdrainage, CAD & Civils 3D.
