Job Overview
Working with the Director of Finance and Deputy Director of Finance, the Head of Financial Management will coordinate financial performance, planning, and reporting activities across the Trust, which has a budget of approximately £600m and around 7,000 staff. The role involves supporting the delivery of key financial targets and regulatory requirements, and developing the financial performance framework as part of the leadership team. The post holder will lead, coordinate, and direct the Trust's financial management teams to provide excellent financial information supporting short and medium-term financial plans.
The post also involves supporting the implementation of the Hospital Transformation Programme (£312m capital investment), taking a lead on revenue changes, collaborating with clinical colleagues on skill changes, and monitoring benefits.
As part of the finance leadership team, the post holder will promote an organisational culture aligned with the Trust's Vision and Values, engaging staff, service users, and stakeholders in quality improvement and service transformation.
Main Duties of the Job
* Ensure effective financial systems are in place for understanding current performance, variances, and drivers, with accurate forecasting.
* Coordinate the production of the Trust's monthly management accounts and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
* Define quality assurance processes for reports, ensuring validations and reconciliations are completed.
* Implement rigorous review processes for monthly and annual forecasts, with operational ownership.
* Support the production of statutory annual accounts, including information provision and stock-take coordination.
* Promote strong financial controls within the Trust, managing financial policies and delegations.
* Oversee business case development and financial modelling to support sound financial decision-making.
