This owner-managed SME is a manufacturing business with a long history which supplies to multiple industries, primarily Oil & Gas. All product research, design, testing, development and manufacturing is carried out at the head office facilities in Accrington.
The Role
Following a recent resignation in the finance team, the FD has decided to replace the Management Accountant position with a Finance Assistant role as the FD now has more time to handle month end duties.
He's ideally looking for someone to work 20 hours a week across four days (Mon-Thurs), with the flexibility to choose start and finish times to fit around personal commitments. The role will involve a mix of tasks including maintaining both ledgers, managing expenses and credit control, bank reconciliations, petty cash, payroll preparation (for a third-party bureau), and journal entries (wages, petty cash, holiday pay). That said, they are open to considering candidates with more experience who could take on additional month-end responsibilities - so the remit can flex depending on the individual.
Duties
Monitoring and managing the shared accounts inbox
Preparing and posting journals
Cashbook postings and completing bank reconciliations
Administration of company credit cards and employee expenses
Credit control, including liaising with credit insurers for credit limit decisions and chasing payments
Preparation of payroll information for submission to a third-party payroll provider
Managing petty cash transactions
Full ownership of the purchase ledger process
Wage reconciliations and associated reporting
Preparing and processing the monthly payment run

Up to £30,000, but some flexibility if someone can support on more month end duties. This will be assessed based on the applicants capabilities.
