Our client, a prominent player in civil engineering, is currently seeking a Health & Safety Advisor for their Sizewell C project in Leiston. This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with a background in Civil Engineering or Construction to oversee and implement the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental Management systems across the site(s). The role involves working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Be part of the Project Delivery team, aiming to deliver accident and incident-free projects.
2. Advise contract and site staff on risk assessments, method statements, task-specific briefings, Site Health & Safety Plans, and safety issues.
3. Chair monthly HSEQ Forward Planning meetings, conduct audits and inspections, and ensure non-conformances are addressed. Engage with staff and workforce on projects.
4. Represent the company at safety meetings with clients and sub-contractors. Attend project pre-start and sub-contractor pre-start meetings.
5. Conduct accident investigations and produce reports, ensuring improvement actions are implemented. Produce Safety Bulletins for distribution.
6. Communicate safety initiatives, notices, and alerts to staff and workforce.
7. Collaborate with HSQE Director or Head of Health and Safety to produce monthly project summaries and assist in Group procedure reviews. Attend weekly HSEQ review meetings.
8. Assist in developing and delivering in-house safety training programs and presentations.
Job Requirements:
1. Experience in civil engineering or construction projects, including drainage, groundworks, structures, temporary works, reinforced concrete, earthworks, and lifting operations.
2. Knowledge of statutory Health & Safety and Environmental regulations.
3. Understanding of Client Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
4. Knowledge of CDM 2015 - Roles and Responsibilities.
5. IT literacy.
6. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
7. Ability to raise safety awareness and improve safety culture.
8. Proactive leadership and management of HSE policies, procedures, and practices.
9. Ability to train and develop staff.
10. Full UK driving license, as travel between sites is necessary.
Qualifications:
1. NEBOSH Qualification (General & Construction) or equivalent.
2. IOSH Membership.
3. Valid CSCS Card.
4. Company vehicle provided.
