Senior Accountant / Accounts Practice SpecialistLocation: Central Scottish BordersSalary: BOEJob Type: Full-time, PermanentAn established accountancy practice based in the Central Scottish Borders is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant / Accounts Practice Specialist to join its team.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong accountancy practice experience who enjoys working with a varied client base, including commercial businesses, agricultural clients, limited companies, partnerships, trusts and sole traders.The role would suit someone who is confident preparing accounts, comfortable dealing directly with clients, and looking for a long-term opportunity within a supportive and well-established practice environment.The RoleYou will be responsible for preparing year-end accounts and supporting a varied portfolio of clients across different sectors. You will work closely with Managers and Partners, helping to deliver accurate, high-quality work while maintaining strong client relationships.This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their workload and has a strong eye for detail.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare year-end accounts for a range of commercial and agricultural clientsWork with limited companies, partnerships, trusts and sole tradersLiaise directly with clients to resolve queries and gather informationSupport Managers and Partners with wider accounting assignmentsEnsure work is completed in line with relevant legislation and internal quality standardsManage allocated work to a high standard and within agreed deadlinesBuild strong working relationships with clients and colleaguesSkills & ExperiencePrevious experience working within an accountancy practiceStrong experience preparing year-end accountsGood understanding of technical accounting standardsExperience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Farmplan, CCH or QuickBooks would be beneficialStrong communication and client-facing skillsExcellent attention to detailGood analytical and problem-solving abilityConfident using Microsoft OfficeAAT, ACCA, ICAEW or ICAS qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experienceAbout YouThe successful candidate will be professional, reliable and detail-focused, with a logical and methodical approach to their work.You will be comfortable managing deadlines, communicating with clients, and taking ownership of your workload.
