The Role
As a Commercial Specialist, you’ll play a central role in supporting and shaping the commercial success of our Mission Systems business. You’ll help us deliver innovative commercial solutions, guide contract performance, and influence strategic customer relationships. Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
1. Provide contract management expertise and governance support to project teams.
2. Undertake pricing activities and lead negotiations for new and organic growth opportunities.
3. Collaborate with opportunity teams to support our business development ambitions.
4. Work closely with customers and internal teams to shape pragmatic and innovative commercial solutions.
5. Act as the main commercial point of contact, ensuring seamless communication across projects.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.
Essential experience of the Commercial Specialist
6. Experience managing or understanding contracts within matrix organisations.
7. Commercially driven, with strong business awareness of customers and competitors.
8. Experience developing proposals for new work or organic growth.
9. Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced environments with critical deadlines.
10. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Qualifications for the Commercial Specialist
Essential:
11. Ideally degree‑qualified (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Law or Accountancy – not essential
Preferred:
12. Membership of, or willingness to work towards:
13. Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS)
14. World Commerce and Contracting (WCC)
15. Post Graduate Certificate in Commercial Management (PGCCM)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, you will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance, but once in post you will need to obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
