The Mint House is an Oxford-based charity working to grow restorative justice and practice in our city, county, and beyond. We are seeking a treasurer to join our Trustee Board.
What difference will you make?
This is an essential role. Your skills will be vital in ensuring our long-term viability and enabling restorative approaches to benefit everyone. As a relatively young charity with two part-time staff members, there are many areas in which you could make a positive impact. You will help secure the ongoing financial viability of the charity, assist in setting the overall strategic direction of the Mint House, and track progress towards this. You will also use your skills to facilitate and develop the use of restorative practice in various community settings.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a treasurer who will work with other trustees to ensure the Mint House is well governed and acts in the best interests of its beneficiaries. While prior knowledge of restorative justice and processes is not required, an open mind and willingness to learn are essential. The treasurer will ensure sound financial management, effective use of assets, and that all financial policies and procedures are in place. They will also help maintain the charity’s vision, mission, and values, exercise good independent judgment, and understand the legal duties of trusteeship.
What will you be doing?
You will lead all aspects of financial management, including maintaining bank accounts, running payroll, paying suppliers, and preparing annual accounts. You will work with trustees and staff to produce budgets and advise on financial planning and strategy.
About us
The Mint House is dedicated to growing restorative justice and practice, believing in their role in building respectful relationships and repairing harm. We are a registered training provider with the Restorative Justice Council, working through events, training, and community projects.
Who we are looking for
The role involves leading on financial management, including bookkeeping, management accounts, budget preparation, payroll, and pensions. Meetings are held six times a year in Oxford, in a hybrid format. Expenses are reimbursed, and training/support will be provided. This voluntary position offers an opportunity to develop skills and shape the charity’s strategic direction.
