Senior Mechanical Engineer
Due to an impending retirement, we are seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to shadow and eventually succeed our current senior mechanical engineer. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience with high-temperature industrial process plant and materials handling, including refractory design and installation. Reporting to the managing director, you will work independently after familiarization with our technologies and will take responsibility for the mechanical engineering functions within the group. Responsibilities include conceptual process design, drawing and design work, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of existing plant. Key qualities include intellectual rigor, technical knowledge, good communication skills, and the ability to manage and collaborate effectively. The role involves:
* CAD drawing using Inventor for conceptual design and manufacturing preparation
* Reviewing manufacturing drawings for quality control
* Fault diagnosis and rectification
* Implementing maintenance and spares supplies
* Testing on pilot plants
* Managing the mechanical engineering team
* Liaising with suppliers for component fabrication
* Supporting procurement processes
Required Qualifications and Skills:
* A good degree in Engineering or a related discipline
* Practical experience in mechanical or process engineering, especially in thermal processes and materials handling
* Interest in gas/solid processing technology
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office
* Ability to work remotely
* Valid UK residence and work permits
