Location: Bronx, New York. Bargaining Unit: 1199. Scheduled Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Scheduled Daily Hours: 7.5. Hourly Rate: $25.01. This rate may be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other factors.

Job Summary
It is expected that all Service Associates will function as members of a team dedicated to support the highest quality care and services to our patients by assisting in such functions as maintaining a safe, clean and functional environment; assisting with dietary aspects of care; facilitating communication, i.e., answering phones; transporting patients and assisting visitors. As an integral part of the team, the Service Associate is responsible for activities which promote patient focused care within the Patient Unit.
Essential Functions
* Maintain general patient care environment including cleaning of patient rooms. Cleans patient environment; turn around time for discharge; 100% compliance to Quality Control checks; restocks patient rooms as required.
* Transports patient. Cleans patient environment; turn around time for discharge; 100% compliance to Quality Control checks; restocks patient rooms as required.
* Maintains cleanliness of non-patient areas, e.g., unit-based supply rooms and cooling stock; checks expiration dates on supplies; 100% compliance to quality control checks.
* Provides and maintains a safe environment through preventative and interventional measures; adherence to infection control, safety, and disaster policies and procedures; tags and removes broken equipment; communicates information regarding broken equipment to charge person of unit.
* Ensures the patients rights are respected as identified in the Patient Bill of Rights; 100% compliance.
* Promotes the core values of Patient/Family Centered Care; recognizes and respects families; supports diversity; believes environmental design and conditions aid healing.
* Delivers and collects trays to bedside or dining areas; prepares dining setup and assists with feeding as required.
* Transports equipment, supplies and specimens as necessary; delivery in a timely manner per MMC policy and procedures.
* Performs emergency clean-up housekeeping tasks; disposes of waste materials in a safe manner; adheres to infection and safety policies.
* Performs light engineering duties as necessary; escalate maintenance issues when needed.
* Sets priorities, problem solves, uses judgment in non-emergent situations; completes assignments within established time frames; asks questions and seeks clarification; distinguishes deferrable from non-deferrable work.
* Utilizes effective interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate with the Care Team; communicates observations of patient status to the professional nurse; assists other staff within scope of practice; promotes team building.
* Responsible and accountable for own actions; adheres to MMC human resources policies and procedures.
* Participates in continuous quality improvement; contributes to problem identification and solving; supports Montefiore Medical Center standards of care.
* Other duties as assigned; reports on and off duty to designated RN team leaders.
Qualifications
* High School or equivalent with vocational/technical training preferred
* Effective English communication skills, both written and oral (Medium proficiency)
