An opportunity for a passionate lawyer has become available to work at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council as part of the Legal Services team.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic lawyer who shares our values, ambition, and culture, to provide legal advice and support to the wider Council teams working in the Adult and Litigation team. The work is wide-ranging and covers the following legal areas:
* Adult social care
* Education including admission appeals and independent review panels
* SEND
* Criminal prosecutions
* Regulatory services including licensing
You will work with the Lead Solicitor and other members of the Adult and Litigation team, as well as colleagues in the Council’s wider legal team, across all areas of work covered by the team.
You will be responsible for your own caseload, providing a professional legal service with support from our dedicated team of Legal Officers. We welcome applications from candidates with experience in one or more of the areas of law covered by the Adult and Litigation team.
We are looking for a highly skilled lawyer with experience in adult, education, and/or litigation law. You will be a qualified solicitor, barrister, or CILEx lawyer with a current practising certificate (though we will consider those about to qualify having completed all academic stages).
You will also need:
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, procedures, and good practice.
* Good organisation and communication skills.
* Enthusiasm and passion to deliver an excellent service to our client.
