Offer description

The role

This is an exciting time to join Historic Royal Palaces as we work towards our ambition to be a charity for everyone, including our aim to reach every school in the UK.

As a Schools Content Producer (Secondary), you will play a central role in enabling diverse school audiences to learn about and enjoy our palaces through engaging, high-quality and curriculum-aligned programmes and resources. You will design and deliver imaginative onsite, online and offsite learning experiences that meet the needs of secondary learners (KS3–5), including home leaners and students with SEND.

Working closely with colleagues across National Programmes & Outreach and the Palace Programmes team, you will contribute to the development of our schools strategy, represent audience needs in cross-team projects, and ensure our programmes remain relevant, distinctive and sector-leading. You will also support evaluation, operational planning and the ongoing improvement of our offer.

You will oversee aspects of project delivery, including managing budgets, procurement and reporting, and supervising freelance practitioners, suppliers, volunteers and student placements. On occasion, you will deliver learning sessions and support teacher CPD.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a creative, motivated professional with substantial experience in developing and delivering programmes and resources for secondary school audiences in an educational, heritage or cultural context. You will be confident managing mid-to-large scale projects and budgets (up to £100K), and able to balance multiple priorities effectively.

You will bring a strong understanding of the National Curriculum in England and across the UK, learning theory, visitor engagement and the operational realities of secondary schools. A commitment to inclusive histories and representing diverse perspectives is essential, alongside experience of working with a wide range of young people aged 11–19. Experience producing digital and print learning resources, evaluating learning programmes and developing teacher CPD is highly desirable.

You will be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to build and maintain effective relationships with schools, partners and colleagues. You will also be able to work independently and collaboratively, showing initiative, creativity and problem-solving ability. Strong organisational and time management skills are essential.

You should also be IT confident, particularly in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Benefits Include

* Hybrid working
* Enhanced holiday entitlement
* Generous Employers Pension Contributions (up to 11%)
* Annual Pay reviews & Bonuses
* Critical Illness Cover & Life Assurance
* Family friendly policies and benefits
* Staff discounts and free entry to all palaces
