Are you ready for a nursing opportunity that will truly set you apart? Blundell Ward is looking for an experienced, passionate and dedicated Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our expert team. A fast-paced, specialised area, Blundell Ward is a 24-bedded Head and Neck/ENT-focused ward where no two days are the same, and every shift brings new challenges and opportunities for growth.

Blundell Ward offers an exceptional nursing experience that you won’t find in most other ward areas. You’ll have the chance to care for patients who have undergone complex head and neck surgeries and manage difficult airways—a skill set that will set you apart in the nursing world. You’ll work across both elective and emergency admissions, providing vital care to a diverse group of patients from Oncology, Haematology, and ENT areas.

Experience within Head and Neck or tracheostomy care is desirable.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Independently manage a group of patients within the specialty whilst
working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised and
personalised direct patient care

Is wholly accountable for his / her practice in line with the NMC code of professional conduct and takes every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve his / her knowledge and professional competence.

To be an effective communicator with patients/carers/families regarding disease treatment and management.

Demonstrate appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment,
planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This includes
history taking, physical examination and the requesting of agreed
diagnostic procedures/clinical investigations.

Undertake prescribed physical observations as follows: blood pressure, temperature, respirations, blood sugars, urinalysis, weight and height, drain monitoring including measurement and report exceptions appropriates.

Responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication via oral, enteral and IV routes including transfusion of blood and blood products

Be responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in the
specialty. To interpret information and take appropriate action and to lead
others to do the same.

Work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ascertain treatments and advise on nursing priorities.

Ensure safe and effective care for complex patients requiring advance clinical skills and responsible for carrying out specialist nursing procedures to area.

Complete evidenced based interventions including enteral feeding line care, IV line care, complex dressings and wound management, pre and post-operative care relevant to specialties.

Education/ Qualifications

10. RN1/ RN2/ RN12 on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
