We are seeking an experienced Interim Head of HR Operations to provide stability, leadership, and operational excellence during this critical period.
Rate: £50.00 per hour (umbrella)
Location: Civic Campus, Euclid Street, Swindon
Contract: 5 months + immediate start
Role Purpose:
The role will lead and develop HR Operations, ensuring the delivery of efficient, customer-focused, and digitally enabled services. This role will provide immediate leadership to the HR Operations team, introduce robust service standards, embed performance reporting, and deliver continuous improvement aligned to transformation, audit, and service review recommendations.
You will also explore innovative technological enhancements — including AI applications — to ensure HR Operations delivers timely, reliable, and professional services now and in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & People Management
* Lead and develop the HR Operations function, supporting the HR Team Leader and their team.
* Integrate Assistant HR Business Partners into the Shared Service model.
* Role-model inclusive, visible leadership aligned to SBC values.
Operational Excellence & Service Standards
* Establish and implement KPIs and SLAs for HR Operations.
* Deliver consistent, transparent, and customer-focused HR operational services.
Data, Insights & Reporting
* Partner with the HR Data & Insights team to deliver performance reporting and demand management.
* Strengthen data integrity and reporting to drive operational and strategic decisions.
Improvement & Transformation
* Deliver the HR Operations improvement plan and implement recommendations from transformation and audit reviews.
* Develop scalable HR templates, procedures, and systems.
* Explore and integrate AI and other digital solutions to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
Skills & Experience
* Significant leadership experience in HR Operations or Shared Services, ideally in the public sector.
* Proven track record in service improvement and embedding SLAs/KPIs.
* Experience in workforce planning, capacity analysis, and process transformation.
* Strong skills in HR data management and reporting.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Awareness of digital innovation and ethical AI applications in HR
