TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist secondary provision in Manchester, supporting with their recruitment for a SEMH Teaching Assistant. This setting provides a supportive and structured learning environment for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs, focusing on building confidence, resilience, and positive relationships. The school promotes a therapeutic and nurturing approach to learning, helping students achieve both academically and personally.
The school is looking to take on a resilient and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant on a long-term basis. The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will be working closely with secondary aged students who display challenging behaviour, supporting them both inside and outside of the classroom. The role will involve promoting positive behaviour, supporting emotional regulation, and helping students engage with their learning. Team Teach training is highly desirable for this position.
The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will have:
Experience working with secondary aged students with SEMH needs
Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour
Team Teach training is desirable
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
A calm, patient and resilient approach
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
