What it's like to work here
You will work alongside and help supervise a team of four Collections Assistants. You will also take the role of house supervisor, leading the supervision of the house and volunteers for the day. Upton is open 7 days a week all year round, so flexible working is required. You will also be expected to work regular weekends and bank holidays. Occasionally you may be required to work offsite for training at other properties or to help at properties within our portfolio. Annually the team will travel to implement the deep clean at Farnborough Hall ready for the open season.
What you’ll be doing
As the Collections and House Officer, you will be responsible for opening the house each day and ensuring adequate staffing to provide visitors with a consistently good experience. You will supervise routine conservation, preventive conservation and the annual programme of deep cleaning. You will collect and record information gathered during cleaning and housekeeping to enhance our knowledge of the house and its contents. You will use preventive conservation methods to improve care and presentation to visitors.
