About the role
Lecturer in Sociology in the School of Social Sciences at Lancaster University (temporary one-year post).
The School of Social Sciences seeks to appoint a full-time Lecturer in Sociology (one-year post). The successful candidate will join the Sociology team within the School of Social Sciences and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research activity, and the wider academic life of the discipline, including contributing to and leading citizenship and academic activity where appropriate.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality teaching in sociological theory, public sociology, and the sociological study of welfare provision.
* Support a high-quality student experience and student‑centred learning.
* Maintain a developing portfolio of research publications.
* Contribute to academic service and leadership.
* Lead or participate in interdisciplinary activities with other departments (Criminology, Educational Research, Linguistics, Social Work).
Qualifications
* PhD in Sociology or a cognate area.
* Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
* Developing research portfolio with relevant publications.
* Experience of academic service and leadership is desirable.
* Expertise in teaching sociological theory, public sociology, or welfare studies preferred.
