Job Overview
This is a very exciting opportunity for you to come and work in Camden MOSAIC, an innovative multidisciplinary service for children and young people aged 0-18 with a disability.

You will support the Camden MOSAIC service with the assessment of children and young people with suspected neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and ADHD, and assist the MOSAIC service as required. Specifically, these roles, which are the result of new investment, will support and enhance the capacity of the service to deliver diagnostic assessments.

We are looking for motivated and skilled people to support with coordination and practical delivery of assessments, and will offer a range of training and support in return.

Main duties of the job

* Supporting the wider multi-disciplinary team with the coordination, administration, implementation and delivery of NDD assessments
* Working independently according to a plan agreed with a suitably qualified clinician and within the overall framework of the service policies and procedures
* The gathering of clinically relevant background information to support the delivery of NDD assessments for children and young peopl
* To support in the preparation and facilitation of post-diagnostic support, such as the ATLAS programme, and other forms of post-diagnostic support. To co-facilitate groups with suitably qualified clinical staff from across the MDT.
* To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and to offer wider support to the multi-disciplinary team.

MOSAIC is a multidisciplinary organisation based at Kentish Town Health Centre, supporting children and young people aged 0-18 with a disability, and their families. The service includes the Child Development Team (CDT), Social and Communication Assessment Service (SCAS), Single Point of Referral (SPOR), delivery of post-diagnostic parent programmes, a Feeding Clinic, the Down Syndrome Pathway and the Sleep Service.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

* Working independently according to a plan agreed with a suitably qualified clinician and within the overall framework of the service policies and procedures.

* To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and to offer wider support to the multi-disciplinary team.

Teaching, training, and supervision

* To receive regular clinical professional supervision from a suitably qualified clinician.
* To attend relevant training sessions to develop knowledge in this area.
* To attend regular team meetings and develop knowledge in this area.
* To support with the development and facilitation of assessment materials and resources.
* To develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties.

Research and service evaluation

* To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the MOSAIC service through research, service evaluation and audit.
* To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research using the internet and online databases.
* To undertake clinically related administration and project work.
* To undertake production and delivery of questionnaires, data collection, setting up of databases and spreadsheets, data analysis, and the production of reports and presentation of summaries to colleagues using IT and statistical programmes, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and SPSS.

General

* To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping, including electronic data entry and recording, and contributing to multidisciplinary diagnostic reports.
* To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific patient group and related areas.
* To ensure that all aspects of professional activity (e.g. communication with patients, relatives, colleagues as well as in the assessment, development/delivery of interventions) issues of diversity such as race, culture, identity, gender and sexuality are sensitively considered and incorporated to reflect individual differences appropriately.
* To work flexibly and respond to service needs accordingly e.g. with regard to cover arrangements.

Person specification

Training And Qualifications
Essential criteria

* An upper second class honours degree or higher in a relevant subject such as psychology

Desirable criteria

* Further post graduate training in areas relevant to NDD assessment, intervention and/or research design and analysis.
* Further training in relation to children and young people

Experience
Essential criteria

* Previous experience of working in children and young people's services.

Desirable criteria

* Proven experience in a similar assistant role, such as a therapy assistant or assistant psychologist, a research assistant or as an HCA or equivalent in a children and young people's setting.
* Experience of using clinical and managerial supervision.
* Experience of co-delivery of assessment or intervention
* Experience of gathering information and contributing to clinical reports.
* Experience of supporting children and young people and their families.

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria

* An understanding of the strengths and needs of neurodivergent children and young people
* Awareness of the principles of trauma informed care
* Ability to work effectively within a team
* Knowledge of the principles of NDD assessment

Desirable criteria

* Able to understand therapeutic models, assessments and interventions
* An understanding of the use of outcome measures in clinical settings.

Planning and organisational skills

Essential criteria

* Ability to effectively plan and organise a work diary, to prioritise meetings.
* Ability to manage and meet deadlines for submitting reports and communicating key information to colleagues (System 1 notes and other system records).

Personal

Essential criteria

* An interest in working with children and young people who may be neurodivergent.
* Ability to work effectively within a stressful working environment though using formal and informal sources of support.

Communication Skills

Essential criteria

* High standard of report writing.
* High level communication skills (both written and verbal) including an ability to consider individual cultural identity when communicating with service users and their families.
* Ability to communicate professionally through different mediums e.g. email, letter, telephone.

Desirable criteria

* Experience of presenting, delivering teaching or training.
