Job Introduction
We are offering the opportunity to join our team on the stroke specialist ward at Chippenham Community Hospital.
Mulberry ward is a 20-bed inpatient ward with a multidisciplinary approach to the patient stroke pathway. Patients are admitted from 3 acute hospitals for ongoing specialist rehabilitation following their stroke.
As a Band 5, you will be supported through regular in-service training, peer support with our team of Band 5s, competency development, and the preceptorship program. You will also receive an annual appraisal and regular one-to-one supervision with your assigned supervisor.
This role provides comprehensive experience working in multidisciplinary teams. The post holder will promote independence using rehabilitation and enablement interventions, working collaboratively with various health and social care teams.
While based on Mulberry ward, there is an opportunity to experience Cedar ward, our general rehabilitation ward, and community teams. Conditions encountered include orthopaedics, neurological, musculoskeletal, frailty, dementia, and end-of-life care.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide safe, patient-focused, effective, and evidence-based Occupational Therapy within Wiltshire health and care, collaborating with team members and contributing to service improvements.
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy interventions and provide effective treatment.
* Undertake all clinical duties autonomously, seeking support when needed and working within your competence.
* Work according to RCOT standards, national and local guidelines, policies, and procedures.
* Be professionally and legally accountable for your work, ensuring high standards of care and proper record keeping.
* Maintain up-to-date evidence-based knowledge and skills, with competence in various therapeutic interventions.
* Contribute to audits, outcome evaluations, and action plan development.
* Integrate with multidisciplinary teams across Wiltshire.
* Promote patient adherence to treatment and self-management for optimal outcomes.
* Participate in extended hours and weekend working as required.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
* Is HCPC registered
* Holds a professional qualification in Occupational Therapy
* Has completed student placements
* Demonstrates ongoing CPD and reflective practice
* Has broad placement experience in cardiopulmonary, MSK, neuro, community, or ward settings as Band 5 or student
* Has experience delivering group-based treatments
* Has participated in clinical or operational audits
* Has NHS working experience (student level acceptable)
