Marine Refit Project Manager at Berthon Boat Co Ltd, Lymington
With an increased demand for our services, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our long-standing project office in Lymington, with a proven track record in a similar role.
You will be managing production, refits, and in service support of boats 20’ – 80’ for Berthon’s wide range of commercial customers, including port authorities, MoD, Border Force, fisheries, sail training and survey organisations. This may include both sailing and motor boats.
This is a full-time role at Berthon’s Lymington shipyard (not hybrid or WFH).
Essential skills;
* Marine production and/or refit project management experience
* Proven track record of successfully managing multi-discipline teams
* Coordinating project schedule and budget, and reporting to stakeholders
* Organised, level headed and have the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
* Proactive, while ready to be reactive in solving problems and changes in scope
* Extensive knowledge of boats – motor and/or sail
* Familiar with components and materials used in the industry, and who supplies them
* Excellent verbal and written communicator, and experience dealing with clients of high value contracts.
* Ability to lead a team to deliver positive outcomes
* High levels of computer literacy including ERP.
* Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Desirable skills/qualifications;
* An engineering or practical background, for example a time served Boatbuilding, Marine Electrical or Marine Engineering apprenticeship, working on tools and then promoted to project management.
* A degree in a relevant course such as Yacht Design and Production, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture would also be a strong foundation for this role.
* AutoCAD or equivalent
* Specialist knowledge of composite construction, marine electrical or engineering installations
