Design CRE (Contractors Responsible Engineer) – Outside IR35 – £450/day – Tier 1 Contractor Location: Doncaster Contract: 6-Month Rolling Rate: Up to £450 per day (Outside IR35) We’re recruiting for an experienced Design CRE to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering a key rail infrastructure programme based in Doncaster. This is a long-term opportunity to take ownership of design assurance and engineering leadership on a high-profile trackside civils scheme. The Role: As the Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) for design, you’ll oversee all design outputs for a variety of trackside civil engineering elements, including trough routes, LOC bases, REBs, and other associated assets. You’ll act as the key interface between the design and construction teams, ensuring all designs are safe, compliant, and delivered to Network Rail standards. Key Responsibilities: Act as CRE for design in accordance with NR/L2/INI/02009 Lead and manage the multi-disciplinary design process for trackside civils Ensure design compliance with all applicable standards and specifications Provide technical assurance and sign-off of all design deliverables Support integration with construction teams and respond to technical queries Liaise with client and stakeholder representatives as required Requirements: Proven experience as a Design CRE on rail infrastructure projects Strong background in trackside civils design – troughing, LOCs, REBs, etc. In-depth understanding of Network Rail standards and procedures Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards) Ability to lead design teams and manage interfaces across disciplines What’s on Offer: Outside IR35 contract £450/day (DOE) Rolling 6-month contract with long-term outlook Join a Tier 1 contractor on a nationally significant project Doncaster-based role with flexible working opportunities Apply Today If you're an experienced rail design professional ready to take on a key CRE role, submit your CV now to secure your place on this project.
