We are looking for anambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team here at YTL Construction UK.
Focusing on civil engineering and infrastructure, primarily at Brabazon, a long-term, high-profile mixed-use project, a development located on land on the former Filton Airfield in South Gloucestershire.
What you'll do
You'll be preparing cost and value reconciliations, cost estimates, budgets, valuations and the evaluation of variations and tender submissions as a big part of this position.
You'll also:
* monitor and control project costs, ensuring value for money and identifying any cost-saving opportunities
* collaborate closely with the project and site teams to ensure accurate measurement and valuation of work on-site
* manage contractor payments and variations, providing accurate forecasting and financial reporting
* support the project team in ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets
* maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
What you'll need
You'll need previous experience within the construction industry as well as strong IT skills, notably with the Microsoft suite, including Excel, most importantly.
You'll also need:
* to be a competent user of COINS
* strong financial acumen and understanding of cost control and management processes
* JCT and NEC3 / NEC4 contract experience
* solid understanding of cost reporting, valuations, and commercial management
* strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
* excellent communication and negotiation skills
* the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
