Overview
Band 6: £38,682 - £46,580. Full time: 37.5 hours per week. Permanent contract. We are looking for motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapists to join our dynamic and supportive teams.

Responsibilities
* Senior Speech and Language Therapists with opportunities to work across our Acute/Neuro Teams.
* Perform advanced dysphagia and communication assessments of patients with diverse presentations. Provide clinical reasoning and develop and deliver an individualized treatment programme.
* Hold responsibility for own caseload and for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. Supervision includes regular formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case conferences. Access to advice and support from a senior SLT as required.
* Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
* Participate in CPD and other departmental activities.
* Supervise newly qualified staff, associate practitioners, technicians and students. Take responsibility for students, supervise, educate and assess SLT students; collaborate with universities to ensure standards of practice meet degree-level qualifications.
* Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to advance the department’s practice. Make recommendations to the clinical or pathway lead regarding changes to practice; may lead specific changes or contribute to service protocols.
Clinical Areas
* Acute – work across ward specialties including Acute Medical Wards, Intensive Care, Respiratory High Care, ED and Acute Admissions Units, Older Persons Medicine and General Surgery.
* Neuro – opportunities across areas within Neuro including Acute Stroke, Neuro Rehabilitation and the Community Stroke Rehabilitation team.
* Head and Neck – opportunities across ENT, Oral-Maxillofacial and Oncology teams with potential to develop surgical voice restoration and tracheostomy competencies.
Qualifications
* HCPC Registration
* Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification
* Registered member RCSLT
* Signed off RCSLT Dysphagia Competency Framework – Level C or equivalent post-graduate RCSLT accredited dysphagia course
Experience
* A minimum of 12 months working in an acute setting with adults who have a broad range of acute communication and swallowing impairments
* Evidence of integrated working in multi-disciplinary teams
* Experience working as an autonomous practitioner
* Evidence of student or assistant supervision
* Evidence of CPD documented
