Registered Nurse in Urology

The Urology directorate at North Cumbria Integrated Care are looking for enthusiastic registered nurses to support the Urological service, which is currently offering Monday - Friday outpatient's services for Urological patients requiring diagnostic or therapeutic interventions for a variety of Urological conditions across West Cumberland Hospital and Cumberland Infirmary.

Our current service delivery includes urodynamic assessments, diagnostic flexible cystoscopy lists, trial without catheter clinics, prostate biopsy clinics, lithotripsy treatment for renal stones, complex catheter clinics, etc.

This is an exciting new role within the organisation, with the opportunity to work as part of a team who are keen to develop the service and improve the way we deliver urology care to our patients through the new facilities within the UIU. You will be working under the supervision of the senior clinical nurse specialist team, and there will be ample opportunity to develop skills and progress in a urology nursing career.


Main duties of the job

The registered nurse within the Urology Investigations Unit / OPD department will be responsible for the provision of specialist knowledge and the efficient running of the day to day urology outpatient activities.

The post holder will:

* Be responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of specific urology care, treatments and diagnostics.
* Be an integral member of the Urology team delivering nursing care within the Urology specialty.
* Contribute to the development and evaluation of staff and students through specialist advice and training.

The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for New to registration Nurses Midwives and Allied Health Professionals.

Registered Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Nurse Level 1
* Venepuncture


Experience

* Experience in urology
* Experience in surgical care


Knowledge

* An awareness of the requirements of the post.
* Demonstration of continued learning.
* Be aware of, and act in, accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* IT knowledge & skills.
* Surgical experience extended in urology skills
* Previous experience of working with patients with urological conditions (both acute / chronic)
* Ability to work as a team member, without close supervision.
* Good organisation skills & ability to use own initiative.
* Ability to communicate with colleagues and the public.
* A willingness to develop by expansion of their role.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to liase with main urology unit effectively.
* Delegation skills /. Coordination or staff and workload


Personal & Other

* Motivation, enthusiasm and a passion to develop a long term career within urological services.
* Ability to work cross site as needed if required.
