Are you able to work an annualised contract which requires flexible availability to provide cover across the team you work with? Hampshire’s Library Service needs enthusiastic Library Team Assistants to join our busy and flexible teams. Your role will be to provide a welcoming environment for all, promote our services and facilities, plan and deliver activities for children and adults, assist with the management of stock, as well as carrying out a wide range of administrative duties. What you’ll do: You’ll be providing an excellent customer experience to everyone who visits our libraries and encouraging people to read a range of authors and book titles, download our apps to access eMagazines and eBooks /eAudiobooks and account options. You will take part in special promotions for adults and children, sign up for courses and events and using our IT facilities. You will be required to travel between a small ‘cluster’ of libraries, so you will need to fulfil specific travel requirements which will be outlined at interview. Working Pattern: Week 1 Monday off Tuesday 9-5pm Wednesday 9-1.30pm Thursday off Friday 9-5pm Saturday 9-1.30pm Week 2 Monday off Tuesday 9-5pm Wednesday off Thursday 9-1.30pm Friday 12.30-5pm Saturday 9-1.30pm A full induction and training programme will be provided and continued personal development is encouraged. What we’re looking for: It’s essential that you have the following knowledge, experience, skills and behaviours: Good general education (GCSEs or equivalent) Experience of working with the general public in paid or voluntary work Interpersonal skills Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally Ability to work under pressure IT skills allowing use of Library Management Systems Ability to cope with physical element of the job Ability to work alone and unsupervised Ability to process payments according to procedures Use of all equipment (e.g. Library management system, telephone system, public IT) Why join us?
