JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm JOB OVERVIEW As a Pathfinder Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) you will act as the main point of contact, providing advocacy, risk assessment and safety planning while ensuring individuals are informed, prepared and supported throughout proceedings. Working across the Black Country and Family Court settings, the Pathfinder Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will collaborate with partner agencies, contribute to multi-agency working and produce detailed reports to inform safe and effective court outcomes. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, safeguarding knowledge and experience supporting vulnerable individuals within domestic abuse or social care settings. DUTIES Your duties as the Pathfinder Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) include: Provide Advocacy and Support: Act as the main contact for victim-survivors and their children throughout the Family Court process Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify risks using recognised tools and develop effective safety planning strategies Prepare Court Reports: Produce detailed, accurate reports outlining the impact of domestic abuse on families and children Support Court Attendance: Ensure service users are prepared for hearings and can attend safely with appropriate support Deliver Post-Court Support: Provide ongoing safety planning and guidance following court decisions Work with Partner Agencies: Collaborate with multi-agency professionals to ensure coordinated and effective support Offer Specialist Advice: Act as a subject matter expert on domestic abuse for court staff and stakeholders Maintain Case Records: Ensure accurate, timely documentation and case management in line with safeguarding requirements Promote Safeguarding: Follow safeguarding procedures and escalate concerns relating to vulnerable adults and children CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL Previous experience in domestic abuse, safeguarding or supporting vulnerable adults and children Knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning and trauma-informed approaches Experience managing complex casework and working within a multi-agency environment Ability to communicate effectively and advocate for individuals facing barriers to support Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines Competence in Microsoft Office and case management system Understanding of relevant legislation, safeguarding practices and domestic abuse dynamics Ability to produce clear, professional reports for formal settings Eligible to work in the UK DESIRABLE IDVA qualification or relevant professional training Experience of preparing reports for court or similar proceedings Knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies related to domestic abuse Experience facilitating group work or supporting volunteers BENEFITS 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with service) 1 wellbeing day (pro rata) Employee Assistance Programme Access to clinical supervision with a qualified counsellor Pension scheme with 5% employer contribution Mileage allowance Training and development opportunities Time off in lieu (TOIL) Staff away days and internal communications This role requires a DBS check APPLY TODAY… By submitting your job application to us you are hereby giving us your express consent to submit your details to our Client for this purpose.
