Teaching Assistant : Specialist SEN School and College
Location: Cranleigh, Surrey (Semi:rural 23:acre site)
Salary: GBP20,224 : GBP21,032 (Actual) GBP23,580 : GBP24,521 (Full:Time Equivalent)
Bonus: GBP1,000 Retention Bonus (paid in stages over 18 months)
Hours: 36 hours per week, Term Time only (39 weeks per year)

The Role
Working in a specialist environment is very different from a mainstream TA position. Our students have severe social communication difficulties, complex learning disabilities, and often display challenging behaviours. Your role is to help them access therapy:based education, develop life skills, and achieve the highest level of independence possible.
Key Responsibilities:

Small Class Support: Work within small groups (8:13 students) grouped by ability and social needs.
*
Communication: Help students use Makaton, signs, symbols, and communication aids via a multi:sensory approach.
*
Emotional Guidance: Provide support when students feel anxious or frustrated, using positive behaviour strategies (Team Teach).
*
Life Skills: Assist with daily living tasks, which may include providing personal care (full training provided).
*
Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of teachers and therapists.

Fully Funded Apprenticeship: All TAs participate in a twice:weekly training program leading to a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship qualification.
