Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a Dietetic Assistant to join our friendlyChildrens Dietetic Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals on a part-time(31.875h/0.85TWE), fixed term basis until the 31st March 2027. You will beworking primarily within our ketogenic and home enteral feeding servicesalongside other dietitians, dietetic assistants, nutrition nurses, keto MDTcolleagues and other health professionals involved in the patients care.
Youwill assist in the provision of a high-quality dietetic service to children,young people and their parents and carers in both the inpatient and outpatientsettings.
Weare looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual, with excellentcommunication to work as an integral member of our team.
Theketogenic and home enteral feeding services are well established, and you willbe supported to develop your knowledge and skills to perform the varied dutiesof the role. You will be based at the Leeds General Infirmary within thechildrens dietetic dept.

Main duties of the job
Youwill provide administrative and clinical support to both specialities, andcover at times of colleagues leave (within your scope of practice). Duties mayinclude basic nutritional assessment/advice and nutritional monitoring andeducation. You will liaise with patients, carers and other healthcareprofessionals within the hospital and within community settings (e.g. GP,community nursing teams, schools). You will support with recipe development andother resources. You will arrange and provide equipment and supplies. You willassist with product and stock management. You will be supporting safedischarges including patients receiving tube feeding. You may participate inaudit of patient care.

Youwill provide cover for colleagues at times of leave and we will support youwith appropriate training opportunities to facilitate and ensure this is withinyour scope of practice.

Job responsibilities
To provide clinical and administrative supportto childrens dietitians working within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Thepost holder works independently, but all patient related work is directed by adietitian and conducted according to policies and procedures.
Person Specification
Experience
* Interest in Health Care and Nutrition
* Experience in working with and communicating with public.
* Good knowledge and experience using Information Technology systems and software including databases and spread sheets
* Motivated to learn and participate in training programmes.
* Recognises the need to continually update knowledge and skills.
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
* Experience of working independently.
* Demonstrates a more Advanced knowledge of computer packages, e.g. Nutritics dietary analysis.
Qualifications
* Level 3 qualification in relevant health /social care related subject.
* GCSE English and Maths (grade C or 4 minimum) or Functional Skills equivalent (Level 2 minimum)
* Completion of CARE certificate or willingness to complete within the first 3 months of employment.
