My city, my work, my future

Join Leeds City Council as an apprentice and kickstart a career with real impact in your city.

You can choose from diverse career paths in your local council. Your work will be with one or more of our many dedicated teams delivering vital services that support Leeds’ 800,000 residents, our environment and the local economy.

As an apprentice, you will lay the foundations for your future. You’ll earn while you learn, gaining practical skills on the job alongside fully funded study for an accredited qualification.

Our apprenticeship offer

Our apprenticeships offer you high quality work-based learning to equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience you’ll need to progress in your chosen career. We fund your academic studies and allocate time in your working week for you to attend college or university. At work, you will gain hands-on experience under the guidance of our supportive managers, and our dedicated apprenticeships team works closely with you, with managers and with learning providers to make your experience the best it can be.

Don’t just take our word for it, we regularly ask our apprentices for feedback to help us learn and improve as an employer. In our latest survey:

* 88% said the apprenticeship supported their personal development at work
* 88% were satisfied with the support provided by their tutor
* 85% were satisfied with the overall quality of their training

We’re proud of our apprentices and their determination to learn and progress; since our apprenticeship programme started, 64% of our apprentices have secured a promotion within Leeds City Council.
