An excitingopportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to joinour CQC twice rated Outstanding practice in the beautiful Heart of England.

Main duties of the job

We are a large forward thinking, innovative practice with approximately 22,500 patients, 10 Partners, 5 Salaried GPs & 1 Retained GP. We are also a training practice with 4 GP trainers, 3 GP clinical supervisors and 6 medical student supervisors.

Job summary:

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

About us

Based over 2 local sites, the GPs are supported by an experienced team of Nurse Practitioners, Paramedics, Mental Health Practitioners, First Contact Physiotherapist, Treatment Room Nurses, Nursing Associates, HCAs and a large administration team. We also have a multi-disciplinary team including Care Co-ordinators, a Social Prescribing Link Worker and Safeguarding Co-Ordinators. We are a long established training practice with an ethos for education.

Job responsibilities

Clinical responsibilities:

* In accordancewith the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgeryconsultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients athome, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries,paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
* Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems,whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers withinthe organisation
* Assessing thehealth care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems
* Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
* In consultationwith patients and in line with current practice disease managementprotocols, developing care plans for health
* Providingcounselling and health education
* Admitting ordischarging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other careproviders as appropriate
* Recording clearand contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
* Compiling andissuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoidinghand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
* Prescribing inaccordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically)whenever this is clinically appropriate
* In general thepost-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties andresponsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Otherresponsibilities within the organisation:

* Awareness of andcompliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g.prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
* A commitment tolife-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
* Contributing toevaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
* Contributing tothe summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data
* The post-holder will undertake 1 duty session per week and will participate in our Enhanced Access rota (max. 1 session per week).
* Attendingtraining and events organised by the practice or other agencies, whereappropriate.

Confidentiality (Information Governance):

* In the course ofseeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather,sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have theright to expect that staff will respect their privacy and actappropriately
* In theperformance of the duties outlined in this job description, thepost-holder may have access to confidential information relating topatients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcareworkers. They may also have accessto information relating to the practice as a business organisation.All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictlyconfidential
* Informationrelating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or thebusiness of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons inaccordance with the practice policies and procedures relating toconfidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data inaccordance with IG policies.

Health & safety:

The post-holder will implement promotion and management of their own and others health & safety and infection control as defined in the practice health & safetypolicy, the practice health & safety manual, and the practice infection controlpolicy and published procedures.

Qualifications

* Fully qualified GP with GMC registration on the GP specialist register

* Evidence of continued professional development
