Summary
* The EHC Plan Writer is tasked with drafting, amending, and reviewing Education, Health, and Care (EHC) Plans to ensure they are accurate, legally compliant, person-centered, and reflective of the child or young person’s needs and outcomes. This role emphasises producing high-quality written plans without engaging in casework management, allowing the postholder to specialise in creating clear, consistent, and compliant documentation.
Responsibilities
* Produce clear, accurate, and person-centered EHC Plans in accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
* Draft amendments following Annual Reviews, Phase Transfer Reviews, and statutory or non-statutory updates.
* Ensure plans fully reflect professional advice, parental views, and child/young person aspirations.
* Maintain consistency of language, structure, and outcomes across all plans produced.
Requirements
* Demonstrable experience in writing EHC Plans, including drafting, reviewing, and amending them.
* Strong understanding of Annual Review processes and statutory timescales.
* Ability to interpret and translate multi-agency reports into clear, outcome-based plan sections.
* Experience delivering high-quality written work to strict deadlines.
* Relevant experience in SEND/EHC planning (experience outweighs formal qualification).
