Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this position is to be confirmed.
We are seeking an Occupational Therapist with a particular interest in working with young people (aged up to 18 years) who have mental health difficulties and neurodevelopmental issues. You will be based in West CAMHS, West Centre and will help to deliver an Occupational Therapy Service within a multi-disciplinary setting. Whilst experience of working in either mental health or paediatrics is desirable, it is not essential, as we recognise that a desire to work in this area will be the key to your success in this post. The post aims to extend an Occupational Therapy service that is already established and well respected within the team.
You will be supported by a Specialist Occupational Therapist in the role and be part of a wider CAMHS Occupational Therapy Team that is growing and expanding. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assessing young people who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health and may have co-morbid neurodevelopmental issues. You will be required to offer individual and group work interventions (e.g. SPARKS, RTA, Creative), both with and alongside your Occupational Therapy and multi-disciplinary colleagues. You will also be expected to support a student placement programme.
You will be provided with an induction that includes both Occupational Therapy specific and multi-disciplinary input and will be given access to regular CPD opportunities. We are committed to providing regular supervision, as well as developing reflective practice and evidence based interventions. Band 5 peer supervision sessions are also developing. You may be seeking a sideways move to a new and different field and or your first Occupational Therapy role. Regardless of your background, you will be able to demonstrate that you have the necessary interpersonal and communication skills to work with children, young people and their families. You should be HCPC registered and have relevant experience in Occupational Therapy that you can transfer to this role.
Please note interviews for this post will take place in person on Friday 23 rd May 2025 at the West Centre, 60 Kinfauns Drive, Drumchapel, Glasgow G15 7TS.
Informal enquires and discussions are welcomed, please contact Fiona Stalley 07974587839 or 0141 207 7100 or via email on [emailprotected]
