Launch Material Planner
Main purpose of the job
The Material Planner is responsible for analyzing and responding to supply requirements from manufacturing and sales forecasts and schedules generated from the plant's ERP system, ensuring timely fulfillment of parts supply and maintaining MRP schedule accuracy in support of ongoing production planning activities.
Main missions and results
* Plan, organize, and conduct activities within its area to achieve common objectives of Artifex Elmdon and the Group.
* Analyze shipments versus requirements, identify part shortages, and resolve issues with relevant suppliers in collaboration with the Master Scheduler.
* Maintain Supplier EDI/ASN Compliance Matrix and establish plans for Non-Compliant suppliers, working with IT and supply chain managers to implement EDI and ASN links.
* Review supplier schedules to ensure alignment with demand through timely handling of MRP exception messages for purchase order updates.
* Coordinate with Demand and Master Scheduler to communicate schedule changes to suppliers and mitigate risks.
* Communicate volume ramp-ups, slowdowns, stock burn-off, and part changes driven by customer or engineering changes in advance to suppliers.
* Work with suppliers to mitigate costs related to cancellations, unused WIP, and excess raw materials, escalating issues as needed.
* Participate in production planning and ECN reviews.
* Run MRP schedule updates and manage non-EDI supplier releases as per plant ERP requirements.
* Generate reports to ensure proper reporting of receipts and returns.
* Verify and mitigate nonconforming incoming materials.
* Address ASN errors and review supplier data setups regularly.
* Monitor in-transit shipments versus commitments and escalate late shipments, reporting on supplier OTIF performance monthly.
* Support lean initiatives and continuous improvement activities within the plant.
Preferred Skills And Experience
* Experience in a production planning environment, with a proven track record in master production scheduling, including new product launches.
* Relevant qualifications in production planning or manufacturing.
* Knowledge of lean logistics and production principles, e.g., Toyota Production System.
* Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
* Strong analytical and pragmatic execution skills with attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
* Understanding of Quality, Business, and OEM systems/standards.
* Self-driven with a positive attitude and team support skills.
